Medium-dark ruby colour with synthetic aromas of acetone and varnish. Also notes of vanilla, cocoa, and black plum. Full-bodied, with currant, spice, cocoa, tar. Moderate length finish, 30s, with black fruit. 89 points (08/27/2005).

For those who put their faith in Daniel Thomases (the new Italian reviewer for the WA), let this wine be a lesson to you. He wrote of this wine:
quote:
One of the best Ciacci's to date

Only if you haven't tried the 1997 (a vintage which he claims is falling apart very quickly). This 1999 is a very good wine but cannot hold a torch to the 1997. No formal notes. 90-91 points.

i will discuss this with my friend david, who buys ciacci every vintage.
i personally find the wines from this producer good wines, even though, i don't like brunellos.

my two cents...

Cork: Cork came out clean. Uncorked the wine on Saturday morning and let stand in bottle uncorked till Sunday afternoon when we had with wonderful Parmegiano Regiano from NYC as well as plate of pasta and sauce and breaded porkchops. Color: In the glass was moderate red with no signs of aging on the rim. Nose: The wine had the nose of flowers and cherries/black fruit. Poured some in the glass (used a Ravenscroft for myself everyday drinking glasses for everyone else). Taste: In the mouth was silky with hints of flowers and cherries, reminded me of a lesser version of the `98 Fanti. Score: 91. 10/31/04

Opened a bottle from the garage, cork came out clean and was in great condition. Let the bottle stand, open and untouched for two hours before pouring a sip into glass and allowing bottle to air out for an additional 40 minutes. What little I poured was wonderful on the nose. Scents of flowers and and a slight touch of mineral. Light ruby in color...Tastes of cherry and bit of a floral flavor. Score:90 03/20/05
