  • 2008 Château Mourgues du Gres Costières-de-Nîmes Les Galets Dorés - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Costières-de-Nîmes (11/3/2009)
Color of straw yellow. Nice approachable nose of lightly perfumed peaches, apples and a touch of citrus. Palate was more restrained fruits, grassy, tart apples and nice acidity, actually a bit better as it warmed up. Not a favorite of my palate, more like an Aussie Sauv Blanc to me. Still chasing that " oh wow" White Rhone. (83 pts.)

The grass is a negative for you, huh? I think it sounds pretty good though.

Try this. Or try some white CdPs. Delicious stuff. Even the Guigal 2007 CdR Blanc is very good for the price. And, for a steal price, the Goats do Roam White is top dollar QPR.

I think I will pursue the Guigal next as it is prevalent in our LBS here in SD.. I blame Wine + Art for opening up my palate a couple of months ago with a 99 Beaucastel Blanc, a bit of an epiphany for me on the Rhone Blanc scene... Yike, just a bit pricey when looking to pick them up.. Your rec, the La Doriane Condrieu looks like it is also in my alley, but a bit on the spendy side for me. thanx again for the tips. Wink
