I had this written down as a 2007, but I thought the Bianco #5 was 2007, so maybe I had it wrong. Anyhow, it was the #4, which I think is the fourth vintage.
Made from Grecanico Dorato, Coda di Volpe, Carricante and Cataratto. This is fermented 100% naturally (no additives of any kind) in terracotta and not filtered. Super-natural.
It is bizarre. And good.
It is a cloudy light yellow-orange with sediment of some kind gathering at the bottom. Has a big mango/citrus fruity nose. Very big, pure fruit like nothing I've had before that matches the nose, with some honey, and only a subtle hint of that Gravner oxidative character. Very interesting finish that morphs around with air. The finish alone seems to change with air over time, while everything else seemed to stay more consistent. 88pts.
