Business dinner.$90.00 at 1 Fish/2 Fish.
WS-94 pts $62.00 retail. Bottle is more fit for curls. Heavy, thick, and broad shouldered. One of my colleagues(Persian)immediately recognized the name as a common surname from Iran. Color:Dark deep purple. Aroma: Muted even after decanting~ 1 hr. Some floral and sweet cherry aromas. Flavor: Medium to full bodied. Chocolaty cherry with appreciable oak and tobacco aftertaste. Low acid but with moderate tannin not yet integrated smoothly. Medium finish. Probably drank too early and needs some cellaring time. Big? Where will this go? The more I drink the 99 Cab's the more homogeneous they seem, which is not a negative per se, and was a comment I had as well about the 97 vintage. The latter however, drank much better in its' youth overall. However, it begs the ? is this worth the $, which has been discussed ad nauseum. At less than $75.00, from my tastings, it is no 94 pt wine, but it represents one of the better dollar choices in this vintage . 91 pts.QPR B- |

There has been some discussion about this wine not showing well early and perhaps being over-oaked. I plan to sit on mine 7-8 years, but has anyone tasted the '98 bottling? How do the two compare? The '98 Darioush was the single best '98 Cali cab I tasted (2002 Super Bowl). I would have rated the '98 93+ points and bought the '99 on the strength of that tasting.

The '99 was one of many wines at the 9-1-02 PNW Soiree. I didn't try it there, but ended up with a leftover open bottle. I had a glass 2-3 days later & didn't like it, but thought it might have been a bad bottle.
That may have been why it was leftover?; but I didn't find any cig butts floating in it, as I did another bottle. Perhaps others who had it that night had better luck. I don't recall any mention of it in the ensuing threads, but there was a lot of excitement over several of the WA wines, so maybe it just was overshadowed. |

We've been to the property twice over the last two years and have always had the same comment..nice wine, but seriously overpriced and not worth the $$. The owner has only produced 3 or so vintages, bought all the land at top dollar and has spent a pretty penny on his facilities as well. If he doesn't charge $$, his cash flow in a tough business is real tough.
When I asked a So. Cal wine merchant I frequented before moving if he had tried their 99 Cab, his comment was that it'd be okay if it were priced $15-20/bttl less. And he had more than a dozen cases of their 99 cab to sell. That tells me a lot. |

Agree with your synopsis. At $90.00 it was the best and most interesting QPR CaL Cab on the wine list, and purchase was admittedly inspired by other forumites. If it weren't paid for by the company, I've wouldn't have tried it. Even a QPR B- is not saying much in absolute terms. I would go as far as to say that NOW is the WORST I've felt in terms of spending for wine ever. DrT ![]() |

I am sure someday I will, but I've yet to buy a bottle of wine over $50. And this one certainly does not seem as if it will be my first. This topic is another good one.

I too have had this wine, and I believe I posted TN's on it, but can't remember. Anyway....not worth the $$ IMHO. If it was in the $30 range then I might consider. $20 for sure. It's a decent 90-91 pt. wine, with some of the right stuff, but the whole package is missing. Overhyped if you asked me.....
