I just got the wine as a present from my friend. I would love to have the 82, Big Grin but it's 81' and I'm not sure if it's still stable enough to drink now. Do you think it's past the prime and little old to drink it now? Thank you for your help.

Too old to drink? No, but excluding the 1980, 1984, & 1987 Bordeaux vintages, the 1981 Las Cases was my least favorite vintage from the 1980's. Still, it is a 24 year old Bordeaux 2nd growth, and should provide you with a nice memory....Enjoy it now, or very soon. 86/88 points, depending on the storage...

andyhugg For $66, I would buy it now! When you consider how much quality CA Cabs are selling for, a $66 second growth--24 year old--Bordeaux wine--is a real bargain! Buy it, and have some fun! Good Luck.

i think you will really enjoy this wine .81 is often overlooked because of the prodigious wines from 82 but there is plenty of enjoyment to be found from this vintage at very affordable prices.

I agree with darth, but for a similar price, I'd look for the 1983s.

Just one more sip.
