2005 Argiolas Cannonau di Sardegna Costera - Italy, Sardinia, Cannonau di Sardegna (8/31/2008)
WIML89?,PURPLE88 Tasted August 31, 2008. Opened and served immediately. Dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of coffee, a tad barnyard, berries and currants. Flavors of bright raspberries, Bing cherries and red berries. Fairly bright acidity, medium tannins and body. Drink over the short term. Nice little pizza wine for about $12-13 per bottle and recommended on that basis only. (90 pts.) Joe ----- Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone. |

For a pizza wine from Sardinia, I'd consider a Carignano. They have plenty of acidity to handle the tomato sauce. We were in Sardinia a few weeks ago and missed the chance to get a Terre Brune at a nice restaurant because my wife wasn't hungry.
Just one more sip. |
