2004 Château de L'Abbaye de Saint-Ferme Les Vignes Du Soir - France, Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur (10/25/2009) Bordeaux nose that is Earthy and funky. The palate surprised me. Plummy fruit, spice, black pepper with a savory and sour quality. I was thinking raw meat and a little salty. Light bodied for Bordeaux and pretty smooth. If I see wine from this producer in another vintage I will buy. The top end of the very good category.
p.s. There is something in there I cannot quite place, but I just don't see it as vegetal. It is a little funky and sour though. (87 pts.)
