2003 Roar Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands (4/21/2006) WIML88,WA90,WS88
Tasted April 21, 2006 at Armadillo Outpost B&B in Fredericksburg, TX. Opened and served approximately 3 hours later in a cheap, nondescript wine glass. Light garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Funky version of a Rosella’s vineyard pinot noir with some notes of grapefruit, balsa wood or perhaps sandlewood. Flavors of red cherries and strawberries with an unexpected, almost mocha like component. Drink now. Value is acceptable. (88 pts.)
opened a bottle of this with copper river sockeye salmon tonight. too big for the fish - mistake on my part. loads of cola / soda pop flavors, smoke, cherry and a bit too much oak that you can really detect on the finish. i dunno, decent but didn't do a whole lot for me.
