I know you typically don't do points, but I am glad to see them here. Kind of puts it in perspective.

What time is that? -When winedrinkers start figuring out that SE doesn't age well? (This is not a snide remark on my part; I'm genuinely asking, as I've never tasted a single vintage myself.)

Thanks for the reply. I've obviously never participated in buying or drinking SE, but as a social phenomenon, I find it endlessly intriguing. This wine tends to elicit strong emotions and opinions like no other.

This bottle was even drier than our other bottle.
I would say based on these two bottles, the '96 did not age any better than the '95.
SE appears to be an early drinking wine based on my experience.
88 points.
would you feel it might go through a dumb phase? like some of the 95 bordeauxs, after 30 minutes in the glass totally shuts down and just tastes tart and tannic, but after 2-3 hours will open up with sweetness and fruit again.

SE is like many California cabs produced the last 15 years or so... drink from year 7-12 imo, and nothing wrong with that.
interesting, so for your children would you provide them the sage advice of "Buy Bordeauxs when younger and move onto cali cabs when older?"
