The wine exhibited a beautiful nose of lemons and tropical fruit. The lovely dry, pear flavors were overpowered by the Pierre Robert cheese, but complimented the lobster bisque well. No need to hold on to this. 89 points.

Of interest ( I'm not following you around-honest.) the Dog Point Vineyard was the orginal Cloudy Bay Vineyard back in 1992. When Goldwater bought grapes from CB, CB was planting another vineyard. Goldwater now own all of the Dog Point vineyard, while Cloudy Bay purchases some grapes from them. Also of note Dog Point is often 100% sav blanc as opposed to a blend. I rang Kim Goldwater this morning to find out, so I'll come back with the appropriate info. I'm gld you enjoyed it. If you can get Nga Waka Sav Blanc do so, it's brilliant.

Just saw the 2002 vintage in the store today. That's probably what you'll see next.

Thanks for the notes board-O. I was wondering around the wine section of a Longs Drugs store on the way home, low-and-behold they had a bunch of the 2001 - on sale for $12.49. I probably would have overlooked if it were not for your post, and I'm enjoying a glass right now. Very nice SB indeed - pairs well with the warm weather here today. Excellent value as well.

jeremy, thanks for the detailed notes on the grape soures for this wine.

Board-o, I like this wine, too. It has a great price point and, as rated, is a very, very good QPR wine. I thnk the 2001s are sold out down around here, too. Dang

Just had the 2002 of this and it was delicious. Had it with a off the cuff scampi. Delish. 89-90 points.

Jeremy (or anyone who chooses to answer Smile),
Perhaps you can answer a few questions for me. You mentioned that the Goldwater was a pure SB, implying that others are typically blends. I thought they were all pretty much 100% SB. What else do they blend in?

Also, I heard something similar about grape sources regarding Allan Scott's SB. I was told that his grapes went into previous vintages of Cloudy Bay but that he was gradually keeping more and more of his grapes for his own wine. Is that true?

With all the news about Cloudy Bay losing grape sources, I expected their quality to fall off a bit, but a colleague of mine had an '01 and said it was the best Cloudy Bay in years. Thoughts?

De gustibus non est disputandum.

Jeremy has been having trouble logging on to this site for some reason. You might want to click the link in my tagline as he no problems logging on to that site. Plus, he's as active as he's ever been, just mostly over there (not sure if he trolls other sites besides VC and (formerly) here...).
