First you have to admire anyone, or maybe it's question their sanity, who grows $150 a ton Grenache in the Napa Valley when Cabernet is getting $3000-$4000 a ton.
Wow. Wow. The aroma bursts out of the bottle, Totally floral. I brought it back to my nose 4-5 times, closed by eyes trying to nail it down. Very sweet fruit, and a hint of peaches. I finally thought, "I couldn't tell this from a Viognier blind". At least on smell.
Medium bodied. light to medium red.
Rich red fruit explodes on the palate, Violets and red cherries, sweet raspberries. Not jammy, but more like a raspberry reduction. It's not fleshy and as intense as a Rhone Grenache, and doesn't have the extra demensions or complexity to make it a great wine in my book (pepper, earth, ect).
It's all happy, fun fruit, great to serve someone who doesn't think they will like a red wine. I wondered if the sweetness was some residual sugar, or just the ripe flavor profile. 85-87 points. Drink up I don't see this one developing more than it has now.
