This is a cuvee blended and grown by the same folks who make d’Issan (Margaux). It is grown on 11 hectares and is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot. For those looking for a pleasurable, ready to drink 2000 Bordeaux, you need look no farther. As soon as this baby warmed up to room temperature (an hour after living in my 50 degree cellar) it was ready to go. It has a suprisingly dark red color and perfume, sweet fruit, and lead pencil nose. Sweet black currant fruit attacks the palate and is followed by chalk, bittersweet chocolate, and spicey oak on a balanced tannic-less finish. After 3 hours it’s starting to decline. Drink over the next year. 87

R2-D2, did it really start to decline after 3 hrs? Eek Isn't that a bit early for a 2000? I've had some smaller Chateaux from this vintage, but some still had to open a bit.

And as a finishing touch, God created the Dutch!

Dutch, yes and no. Of the 75 or so '00's I've tasted, the two predominant themes have been quality and tannin. For lower crus and superiors, the quality is considerably high considering what they would produce in a year like '99 (not a bad year, but no 2000). I suspect, D'Issan makes this wine to be an early pleasing drinker. While their second wine develops over the next 2 years and the D'Issan develops over the next 10 years.

Big Grin You're right. When I see '2000', I often think of the 'en primeur' stuff that's reaching us now and is drinkable between 2015 and 2065. Wink

And as a finishing touch, God created the Dutch!

Thanks R2-

I'll probably be going back for more of this $10 little gem.

There's a lot of love in the room tonight.

Grossie, if you haven't already tried it, I would highly recommend the Au Grand Paris for $10. I think it's a notch better than this and it has a 2-3 year quality drinking window. Also, it held up very well on it's second day of drinking. We'll see how the d'Issan drinks tonight.

I tried the Grand Paris, I wasn't that taken with it. Maybe it's a higher Merlot content or something (I'm not a big Merlot fan), but I found it too herbal for my liking. Maybe I'll try again when I pick up more Moulin D'Issan.

You probably won't like it then ... the herbal angle is what won me over. Oh well, if you find any other high quality-low price Bdx, let me know.

I opened my second bottle tonight and really enjoyed it. I agree with R2s assessment, except to say that I'm still enjoying this 4 1/2 hrs later, and I think it can probably age a few years. I'm going back for more, maybe a case if the urge strikes me.

There's a lot of love in the room tonight.
