Tasted June 30, 2006 at a retail tasting. Opened and served immediately in a Riedel tasting glass. Dark purple to crimson color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of fresh flowers, sliced plums and crushed black berries. A little mocha as well. Flavors of plums, black berries, Bing cherries and licorice. Medium acidity, medium tannins. Medium bodied. I’d recommend holding at least one more year or be prepared for at least an hour in the decanter. 2008 might be a better choice. Based on the local retail price of $62.04 I’d say the value here is between agreeable and recommended. (92 pts.)

Tasted October 5, 2007. Not as good as the previous bottle. Decanted 1 hour. Purple color in the glass, slightly dusty looking. Nose was muted early on giving way to some aromas of balsamic, currants and white pepper. Fairly juicy flavors of boysenberry and black berries. Medium acidity, firm tannins, full body. Maybe holding a little longer will work some of the funk off the nose. (90 pts.)
