An unusual bottling by Ridge, 95% zin and 5% petite sirah. Late picked so it has about 0.5% residual sugar and a hefty 15.6% alcohol. This is drinking great right now, very full bodied and light tanins in great balance. Nice deep black fruits and classic zin spice. A little short on the finish but still very impressive. 91 from the Speculator, I say 93.

That is actually a typical bottle from Ridge, probably an ATP bottling! I have had some fabulous bottles from this program! They do mostly field blends from single vinyards for their ATP offerings. One of the most interesting wine clubs around IMHO. Check out their web site if you want to know more!

Dad;
This was my 'epiphany' Zin...I only wish I could get a few more bottles. It sold here for $28 and was absolutely fantastic - I'd agree with a 91-93 pt. rating.

Kybo, you may want to check with Capitol Cellars here in the Sacramento area! www.capitolcellars.com Marcus has lots of Ridge Zins in stock.

latenitejim - My wife bought this for me at the winery, it wasn't part of the ATP program, just a single year offering. Remember the bountiful '97 harvest? That's why I said "unusual", also because of the high alcohol (15.6%) and the slight residual sugar. You're dead on about the Ridge ATP program though and unlike many wineries, they never seem to have a complete dog.

kybo - You might try www.wine-searcher.com. The free search won't find it but the subscription search might, I think it's $15/year.
