I personally love my ports but my uncle doesn't.

any '63 wines that might stand the test of time?

Best bet would be an Amarone, provided ideal provenance.

amarones is something I know absolutely nothing about.

I could only find Bertani Amarone Recioto on wine-searcher. Would that be good?

I'm not the one to answer that question. I know from what I've read that 1963 was a fairly good year for Amarone.
