This was my favorite Cab at Otis CDP. If you were there and missed this 31 year old Napa bottling, you missed one of the truly special wines of the night. This was not decanted or opened until just as the party started for fear it would fall apart as it sat (from what I heard that assumption was correct). When opened, this wine was singing. It tasted quite fresh and youthful. Solid red color without too much bricking. Plenty of red fruit left to accompany an elegant texture. A real treat. Drink now. 94 points.

Thanks for sharing this bottle Otis.

I've had this wine from sveral vintages of the 1970s, but don't remember specifically if I've had the 1974. I found it be be conistently a very good to excellent wine and once had the 1975 side-by-side with the 1975 Rutherford Hill Merlot and 1975 Chateau Cheval Blanc. Of course this was probably more than 20 years ago and the Cheval Blanc needed more age, but it was not clear which was the best wine of the three. The Bosche was a great QPR.

Just one more sip.

Glad to hear a 1974 was showing so well. I'll post my notes on 14 Cal Cabs from 1974 I just tasted a week ago...

This was fabulous during the first hour of being opened. Great dark cherry, cedar, and leather. The fruit was in the background, relative to the more woody notes.

Fabulous (94pts) at first, then rapidly declined to a bit of a mess after 90-120min.
