Wow...this is a delicious bottle of Bordeaux. Notes of black plum, chocolate covered black cherry, espresso grounds, and toasty oak. Full bodied. Dark blood/red black in color. Deep aromatics, and a long finish. Great structure. This should age well. 94+ pts.

Night two...no signs of oxidation. Same wine as night one. Dark fruit, powerful, but seemless grip. This is a must have for those looking for a top quality '05 Bordeaux under $100.

I know we've discussed futures before, DRAB----what you're saying is that my $47/btl futures price for a case of this (transacted 5/2007) was not worthwhile? hmmmm.....

You miss my point. Which is try the wine you buy. Futures can certainly be a great opportunity. I've bought plenty on futures or pre-arrival. But...I don't let it sit around for 15 years before I figure out whether it's really the wine my critic of choice says it is! And, if I don't think it's all that great, I send it to auction, and free up the cash for something else. My point is people stashing away wine based on other people's opinions/reviews and not having a clue as to what they're really buying. And, if 3-4 of your favorite friends/critics all say it's great, and you're comfortable with it...maybe it's worth it to save that one bottle and have 12 peak experiences in 20 years rather than 11. If people are comfortable stocking their cellar with wine that other people like and that they "think" or "hope" they will like when those other people "think" it will be ready...More power to them...who am I to judge.

all the more reason to find someone who clearly drinks more and better wine that shares the same palate profile with you.

G-man....the only thing left to deal with is bottle variation, and any potential problems with the wine coming from the retail shop it's sourced from.

Example....I bought '00 Lynch Bages on futures. Tried it 2 times before my futures arrived and was thrilled I bought it. Great Bordeaux. Finally my futures came in, and I decided to bring one of my own to a tasting. It was loaded with Brett. So, I tried another one...same thing. I returned the rest to the retailer I purchased them from, and cancelled a pre-arrival order I had with another retailer for 2 mags. Not worth the risk for me. I'm sure there are plenty of good bottles out there, but I'll let someone else open them for me. All I can say is I'm glad I didn't cellar these for 20 years, only to find this out later.

ah yea, I've had the same problem with the lynch...

I can't decide if the brett blows off or if it was bottle variation. People don't drink enough of this and post for me to decide!!!
