I did not find a tasting note on this wine with my search. Confused

By a nose, this is the best Champagne I have had this year, in a year of wonderful Champagne.

A powerful wine, yet balanced.

A nose of a pastry shop in the morning. On the palate, a fresh croissant covered with baked fruit.

A rich, powerful and wonderful wine!

I have never had the '90, but I have always loved this bubbly. According to WSearcher There is a place in NY state that has it for $160. Anyone know where Ronkonkoma NY is? I just found out it is on Long Island. Is it close to you Board-O?

I had my first 750 of this last year and I opened it too soon. It was still really young but very good. I have a 750 and a magnum left and the magnum won't be touch for 10 years at least. Great stuff but I hear the 96 is even better.

WIML94,NOWA,WS96

Tasted May 16, 2007 at an offline. Opened and served immediately in a Riedel Overture Champagne flute. Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout with a light mousse. Nose of pear, apple and cookie dough. Flavors of apples, pears, citrus, some light cherry notes and some biscuit. Good acidity, medium bodied. Drink or hold. (94 pts.)

Maybe I was having an off night, but I found the Winston quite closed and very disappointing, wondering if it will ever come around. I have one more and hope to hold it at least 5 more years.

My TN:
rated 92 points: Brought to an OL, popped and poured. Not sure. A wall of tannin hidding a little fruit. Either this wine is way too young or, possibly, it will never get up the hill. Will wait3 to 5 years before I open the last one

vintage,

I think you were having an off night.

While no need to rush, this was a wonderful bottle to my palate.

Kind of late posting this, but... Hell of a bottle and an interesting story I posted last week on ebob.

Before taking some friends out to dinner last Friday, looked at the restaurant's list online and saw this for $240, easily a hundred bucks cheaper than lowest WS-Pro. Thinking it might be gone but left on the list, I called to confirm, and the GM said, "yep, we've got it, at $240." I casually mentioned that was a great deal, lower than retail.

So that night we get to the restaurant and I'm looking at the list, and see the wine priced at $500! I looked confused and was about to go find the GM when the server picked up on it, and asked if I was the guy who called about the SWC. The GM immediately brought over the wine and joked about how I was safe at the $240, but he'd looked on WS and repriced the wine for the list going forward.

Anyway, spectacular wine:

Great stuff (there's a stretch, huh?) - Nose not overly expressive but notes of toasted nuts, hint of citrus and bread/yeast. On the palate, really fine and light mousse, laser of lemony acidity without any harsh tartness, exceptional balance and nice long finish. I don't drink a ton of vintage champagne, but I can't imagine this needing any time, as opposed to wanting to wait for secondary flavors to emerge.

You shouldn't have said anything about the price! What if other people wanted to get that deal or if you wanted another bottle on another occasion? Damn you!

That said ... awesome stuff. Thanks for the note.

Futronic, what I'm really kicking myself about is that I didn't take advantge to do a mini-vert. with the 88 that was also at $240. Simply never thought of it...oh well.

The punishment for your sins is to buy a case of each the 1988 and 1990 and send them to me.

That'll teach you.

If you're still kicking yourself, add a case of the 1982. I'm sure you'll feel just fine after that!
