Sounds better than the 2002.

Just one more sip.

slightly off topic, but has anyone tried Mission Hill's icewines? I bought a bunch of 99's last year for around $20 a bottle and have really been enjoying them.

I try to grab a bottle of Inniskillin Icewine every time I'm in Ottawa - price is ridiculous in the US for these - I won't buy them here. I especially enjoyed the sparkling icewine I got last time(my tasting note is somewhere).

But if Board-O is right, that these are inferior to many other less marketed Canadian icewines, I'm going to be looking around next time I'm up there. I'd be thrilled to get even better icewine than Inniskillin.

As mentioned, Inniskillin does have a very obnoxious, but nice-to-have store in the Ottawa airport. I say Obnoxious because it is a whole store dedicated just to marketing/selling icewine. Not just a cheapy corner booth. But it's nice b/c it is convenient!

They offer two or three other less expensive icewines as well - I'm not sure their affiliation. But you can walk in, taste them all, and grab a bottle for lots less $$$ than they will be in the US.

If you're in Northern Virginia, and you like icewine... The Gray Ghost vineyard out west of the area towards Charlottesville has a late harvest offering called Adieu. The vintages I've tried were nearly as good as the Inniskillin icewines, but it is only $20 for a 500ml bottle.

Lentini, I visited a number of wineries in the Charlottesville area and didn't find any sweet wines that compare well to the best from the West Coast, NY, or Canada. I thought the dry wines were best at Oakencroft and White Hall.

As far as Inniskillin goes, they're wines on last month's trip were markedly improved, but I'd look for Vineland Estates Cabernet Franc Icewine (being bottled now), 2000 Vineland Estates Riesling Icewine, 2002 Kacaba Cab Franc Icewine, 2004 Peller Estates Signature Series Cab Franc Icewine, 2004 Inniskliin Riesling Icewine and Cab Franc Icewine, 2001 Jackson-Triggs Riesling Icewine, 2001 Stratus Vineyards Riesling Icewine, 2002 Hillebrand Estates Showcase Barrel Fermented Vidal Icewine, 2002 Strewn Riesling Icewine, and 2003 Cave Springs Cellars Riesling Icewine as the best we tasted on the trip.

Just one more sip.
