I've never been wowed by previous vintages of this wine, despite the ravings of many others. But this one is different. It was decanted, left for about 90 minutes and then poured back into the bottle. About 4 hours from when it was opened to when we tasted it. Dark purple coloured wine with a huge nose of cocoa, cocoa and more cocoa. Full bodied, seemingly low acidity (why do I have a feeling TORB is going to fire back with the actual pH Smile), but not overly jammy. Huge plum and black currant flavours on a deliciously long finish. Much better than the '01 imho and I'm buying. 95 points.

A strong nose of black licorice, cedar, chocolate, cassis and plum. More plum and blackberry/currant notes on a lush low acidic palate. Fleshy and a long sweet finish. 93 points

MWP 95+ points tasting

I've had more than my fair share of cooked '99s, '00s and '01s. To say I am gun-shy would be a bit of an understatement were this wine is concerned.

Popped and poured.

Blood red in the glass; barely translucent. Aromas of anise and tobacco and leather leap out of the glass. The cabernet flavors dominate the somewhat mellow shiraz characteristics - notes of black fruits and pepper. Cedar and cherry are also present. Soft, fine tannins are integrated nicely at this stage. Medium to full-bodied. A finish that goes on a very long time. This is a soft, pleasant wine which is approachable now and cellarable. Very good value for around $30.

40+5+5+17+18+8=93

Ready to drink now OR hold IMO.

Dunno if you'll hear from Steve8. He last posted on this particular thread 12/06.

Smile

Lovelandre, I would agree with Danny, but I'm going to hold the two bottles I have for a few years before opening.

I havn't had the signature but we have the Y series Shiraz Vionier by the glass at work and is very good for an inexpensive wine.

I'm thinking of having this tomorrow. Anyone have some recent notes (aside from Cellar Tracker)? Thank you in advance.

Hey theweb. Yup, these are the ones. I'm not 100% sure what I'll be opening tomorrow, but if I do open one, I'll be sure to make a note.
