From Finger Lakes, NY.

Pale white/apple colour. Aromas of honey, spice, white flowers, pear. Off-dry, not very sparkling, with peach, spice, honey. Medium-bodied. Short finish with moderate sweetness, showing honey and orange peel. 85 points (07/31/2005).

I enjoyed this sparling wine from the Finger Lakes. I've never had a sparkler made from riesling before, and I did not know what to expect. Obviously, there was no biscuit or apple that one has come to expect from "champagne" made with the traditional grapes. The wine was off dry with predominantly pear, floral and a touch of honey. I don't know the cost, but I'd expect a relatively good QPR.

This wine was a gift from the Franks for the Toronto offline. It sells for $20.

It had a light pear nose and was lightly sweet, with light pear flavors. Refreshing and fruity. 89

Just one more sip.
