Popped and Poured. Very smooth with a good deal of blueberry fruit. Deep purple color with excellent tannins. Hardly any oak, and was thick and rich on the tongue. A good wine with or without food. About $20 in my area. B+

I agree this is a great everyday bottle, and usually the one I use to introduce non-wine drinking friends to the varietal.

I have had that bottle a few months ago, and surprisingly, cos' I think Achaval-Ferrer is an excellent producer, their '05 Malbec was very generic, over-oaky and out of balance. The 90 pt Ws rating is way off, IMO, more like a 85 pts would apply.

I've had three bottles of this recently and think that there is significant bottle variation with this wine. Two were to varying degrees quite open and complex with an interesting savoury component. The other was far more closed and quite possibly corked. All were from the retailer with no previous issues of wine provenance. To me 89 points when on song.
