Light to medium honey color with a citrus nose with a touch of slight sulfur or yeastiness. I'm not the best on Chard descriptors but on the palate both Mr Dave and I recognized the obvious oak presence. Kind of a nuttiness on the finish. I'm not the best on Chard descriptors...might add, Mr PE could have done another bottle himself!
86-87 chardonnay points

I actually preferred the '01 Estate Chard over the INOX this year when I tasted both at the winery in August. Seemed to have a bit more going on.

I'm with mountainman here: are you sure this was the INOX?

Yeah, the inox by definition sees ZERO oak. It's aged in stainless steel tanks.

That wine never saw oak in its life. You are correct. Stainless steel. I just saw the tanks on Mon. Revlis thought he detected oak in this wine as well. I find it very steely, minerally and full of pineapple and pear. I love it. Meursault-like. Just not as lush.

As I stated, my palate is at times in a conundrum with w/Chards. However, I did taste an oak-like maybe woodish quality.

I, too, found this to have an oaky/woody presence to it. That doesn not have to be a bad thing. I also found it to be fruity, with pear notes at the forefront. We enjoyed this wine, and would add that Mrs. Mci could also have done another bottle of this herself.

Thanks again, Mountainman for this PNW grab bag gift.

Glad you enjoyed it. I think I am down to my last 18.

As other poster have noted, the Inox never sees oak, but you are not crazy, nor is your palate off. The nuttiness you noted and attributed to oak most likely came from the lees. The lees can contribute flavors that are often confused with oak. A nutty note is usually from the lees, and I believe the Inox was aged on its lees.

Thanks RRR:
When I discussed this wine with Mountainman at DeLille, I thought he had mentioned that this wine never saw oak. Upon tasting, I was really confused.
I appreciate you clearing this up.
