I was drinking a Bacio Divino Proprietary Red that is mostly Cabernet, and decided to open the Match to compare.
This was silky smooth, with the kind of tannins that make your mouth water then dry it out again. It clearly would have benefited from a decant or some more years in bottle. But that said, for those of us who like some sexy tannin... this drinks really nicely. Not shut down at all... just young. Beautiful dark color... expressive nose. Ripe cabernet fruit, but not even close to too ripe. Great drying finish. Good on its own and with food (beef tips with a mushroom sauce on noodles).
My first Match bottle, and I'm a fan. 92+pts... room to improve.

Thanks for the TN's on the 2005 Match Baconbrook! I agree with your comments, especially "room to improve", and since I prefer more maturity anyway, I've got a hold on the 2005 Baconbrook till 2012. Also, I have scored all of the Match 92/94 points. Match wines have been very consistent and refined.
Also, I really like the unique and colorful labels, Royal Blue for Butterdragon and kind of a Scarlett Red for the Baconbrook. Excellent job, Randy!

To show our appreciation to folks who were able to stick with us through the terrible economy and had already ordered in 2009, we temporarily bumped their discount level by another 10% so there were a few folks who got a screaming deal. Normally it maxes out at 20%.
