I haven’t had much time lately so only post when a wine really excites me.

Over the past few years I’ve read many topics wondering if wines from this vintage in Bordeaux would ever live up to WS hype; and if the wines would ever come around. Lately, I’ve seen some good reports on a few 95’s so thought I’d give this one a try. This was the first vintage I stocked up on since I was just getting into wine while these were released.

Explosive nose of dark fruit – I would have thought this was a young CA cab. Dense and full on the palate with LOADS of fruit (mainly cassis). Some earthy and cedar notes as well. The tannins were nicely integrated and lush but provided a good backbone and grip on the finish that lasted 30+ seconds. I think WS gave this a 92 and I would agree. Sad this was my only bottle of Dauzac but this makes me very optimistic about the 95 vintage in Bordeaux.
