Be patient with me on this 1st taste note ever. I thought I'd start with an inexpensive bottle so that any who are pursuaded won't be out more than $15.

My understanding is that RP called this the best Napa Cab under $15 he's ever had, or something along those lines. The salesman pitched it that way, I bit, and here we are.

This is an attractive deep color that suggests its fullness. The nose is weak but pleasantly fruity in what little there is. I didn't notice anything offensive or odd about the nose. That inoffensiveness carried over into the taste - not exactly big, but flavorful, dominated by fruit and soft on the palette. Not complex, but tasty. - 87.

It paired well with a somewhat fatty rare rib-eye. It's a great value at $15. I'm not aware of any enjoyable/drinkable Napa Cab in this price range, so RP wasn't exactly going out on a limb with his statement (if he in fact made such a statement).

Thanks for the very relevant TN. You aren't the first person to be swayed by the RMP Avalon hook, nor will you be the last I'm sure. That makes your note even more helpful for those of us considering giving it a whirl. I keep meaning to look out for it, but always forget when browsing.
On a side note, let's hope we kick the crap out of the Corn holershuskers on Saturday.

It is a solid value and it is the best Napa Cab under $15 that I've had. There aren't too many Napa Cabs under $15.

The best Cab I've had under $15 is 14 Hands from Washington State. Such a good wine.

Well now I will have to give the Avalon a whirl. I think I saw it for $11 here in Mpls. We have had the 14 hands chard and merlot on the wine list at work at various times. Not bad for $7 a glass.

Ozarks I forgot to ask, would you buy it again?

I will probably buy it again, but I have recently purchased quite a few everyday drinkers, and I have to start making room for my deliveries from our trip to Sonoma. If I get tired of Malbec (for some reason we've purchased a lot lately) in the next week, I may pick up another bottle.

Oh, and the Tigers have a week off before playing at Nebraska. That game should give a better idea of what kind of team we really have. I hope we aren't let down. They looked pretty sloppy over the weekend.
