Chico - I automatically assume that anything that pyang is involved with means "no pinot"... therefore, I didn't bring a Pinot. However, since I now know you're into Pinot... I'll gladly pop a few the next time around. -------------- My name is Prince, and I am funky. |

Pyang, the Rocket Block is a grenache based wine (50%grenache, 40%mouvedre, 10%syrah). All the other wines are syrah based with 80-88%.
Any notes on the 03 Saxum James Berry Vineyard Rocket Block Grenache. Does it is ready to drink? Does it merits the 98 Parker rating? |

Orlando,
I like the Saxum better than the Sine Qua Non myself. Dont know about the 98 points though. But Syrah is not really my style. |

Chico, thanks. I had the SNQ 2 months ago with drab and like it, This must then be very good.

Few of us had a brief discussion on this. Thought there may be some RS, not intentional but perhaps never went dry? Not my style, Parker rating of Australia and to a lesser extend of California is for the most part useless to me. ------- www.winebid.com |

Actually, a few of us also talked about the SQN. I brought a bottle to an off-line when kybo was in town. Tastebuddy, DJ and ttepper were also there that night if I recall correctly. Tastebuddy and I both thought the bottle we had from the Kitchen was not anywhere close to the bottle I opened. ------- www.winebid.com |

The '89 Krug is a lot more ready than the '88 IMHO.
Top 5 for me T-1 Marcassin, Marc T-1 SQN JFTLOI 3 Ducru 4 Bond 5 Shadow Canyon Worst '75 Rieussec Not quite as worst '02 Foley Suprise of the night '02 Neal, don't know how long Pyang had it open, but it was much more drinkable than I expected at this stage. I had a lot of fun and want to thank Pyang and Chico for making this happen! |

I thought the SQN was a lot like the one we had a few months ago at Cook. One-Dimensional. The `99 Ojai Roll Ranch had a lot more going on - and definatly was the richer, more complex wine - but the alcohol really was a let down on it. The SQN was in perfect balance, it just happened to smell and taste like cranberry juice if you let it sit in the glass.
The Krug was AWESOME. I loved the `89, which I think is the 2nd time now I've had it. The Boswell Ritchie was actually pretty similar to the `02 Aubert Ritchie. Wonder what the price differential is between the two? Peay's Roussane/Marsanne is a good bottle of juice - though I thought it fell apart a bit when it got to room temp. The Martinelli Woolsey Road was VERY Martinelli. Fat n' Oaky. I did like it a little bit though. Was pretty good. Pahlmeyer I found to be a brett bomb. Foley Claret... not too exciting, very vibrant fruit and oak. Actually pretty different from the last time I had it where I likened it to a snickers. The Marcassin was a disappoint for me. The finish, which I likened to menthol / mediciney - over powered everything else about the wine. The `02 Neal had no fruit going on. To me it was all oak by the time I tasted it. -------------- My name is Prince, and I am funky. |
