I see WS gives both of these 92pts and good reviews. I would like to hear from any of you who have tried these, as I have an opportunity to purchase these @ $45 & 35 respectivly.

Thanks! Wink

Have heard nothing but great things about the Sawyer and it comes highly recommendated from a Washington winemaker. But I haven't had any -- yet! Will rectify that soon though.
Have tasted the Chimney Rock and think it to be a bargain at $35. Full of forward fruit and a finish of semi-0sweet chocolate. It's a buy.

Cheers!
And remember: Life's too short to drink bad wine.

Havn't hit the 99 Sawyer yet either, but I have had several bottles of each cab going back to 94, and all (save a typically weak albeit fruity '98) were excellent. It's a great less-known property which I was directed to visit from from the Cardinale staff. Interested in seeing anyones notes as well!

Stags Leap Cabernet 14% alcohol by volume

I opened this and poured off 1 glass to use in my lamb sauce. Let it breathe for a 1/2 hour before i tasted.
The nose is full of mocha, ripe black fruits and a little smokey.
From my first sip I had strong mocha/milk chocolate with ultra ripe black plum and almost fully integated tannins.
The mouth feel was a little like port or blood or milk, silky smoothe.
Unsure of age worthyness but of the 99 cabs it may be the most drinkable i have tried to date.
92-93

no honey i am not going to drink the whole bottle tonight

Agree with all the above notes on the 99' Chimney Rock. I was surprised at how approachable this was so young, especially when the reviews said to wait a couple of years. The tannins were well integrated and sweet. Found it to be quite jammy with lots of black fruit. One of my favorite 99's so far with the Phelps Napa and Justin Isosceles.

Picking up half a case of the Chimney Rock soon and am determined to try the Sawyer. Will get some at WineExchange later this month.

Cheers!

Thanks for the CR SLV notes. I have some and plan on getting some more. Can't beat the QPR on this wine. As a bonus it is drinking well early!

I also have had this and I gave a 92-93 and agree with Mhilger notes. Does anyone have a guess on how this will age?
