This was one of the better wines I had last year, and it was wonderful yet again.

I bought these in Bolgheri for $110 when we had a much stronger $$$.

A pure nose of rose petal, spice and a little cedar. On the palate a rush of blackberry, chocolate, truffle, spice and that Pomerol like black olive. Near the end of the bottle I was picking up tobacco that was not showing early.

An exotic wine to my palate, and there is just something about drinking wine you bought while in Italy. It just takes you back to your trip and puts a smile on ones face. Big Grin

In a blind tasting I would have guessed Le Pin.

I picked up a touch of licorice and more of a smoky nose than I did in July. Other than that, much the same, which is a great thing!

A "Bravo" wine that was far more special before the pricing just got out of hand.

You are absolutely correct about wines that are purchased in Italy and then consumed at a later date. Thanks for the TN. Oh, how I wish I could find Masseto for $110 today

Had this beauty again, and yet again made me think of Pomerol (when they work) in a great year.

I would like to blind taste this wine against the 1988 Le Pin, which I like also.

W+A have you ever compared this to one of the other Tuscan 'Super Merlot' like the Galatrona?

w + a,
We can compromise (different years) and arrange a Le Pin and Masseto comparison if, and when, you cross the boarder some time.
