I think I paid about $22 for these about 5 years ago; my last of three bottles. In the glass it was still a lovely, clear dark garnet and showed a little leather along side the ripe fruit and herbs, plus a nice earthiness – that is, it smelled like it was a Northern Italian wine. On the palate, it was quite elegant, medium bodied, wonderfully intense fruit, a slight tartness, good minerality, excellent balance and integrated tannin. Not as showy as it was in its youth, but drinking beautifully. I don’t know if this is going to get any better, but still seems to have the stuffing to last a few more years at least. 91 points.
