Melon, peach, vanilla, honeysuckle and mineral on the palate. In addition a roasted, smoky, savory, quality with some nuttiness. An absolutely beautiful wine that is Australian with a French influence.
The Nugan wines, particularly the chards, are incredible values. The first time I tasted them, I was floored. I am seeing them in morenwine shops lately, and I would encourage folks looking for good value in a Chardonnay to give them a try.
I have had this wine and their Estate. The Estate is around $10 and a great value. I would say somewhere in the 87-89 point range.
My LWS occassionally invites the winemakers to the store and I just happened to stop by one Saturday when they were there. I had never heard of them. After I tasted through the lineup, I grabbed some of the chards. They also make some Shiraz and Cabernet that are good values too.
Here is the website for my local shop (I am not affiliated with them). I was checking out the website tonight saw this. Thought you would want to see the notes and scores.
A little more citrus this time. Green apple, pear, nuttiness and smoke with some toffee and butter.
92-93 Points
This wine was no fluke. Excellent the second time around. Last time I had it, I was without food, this time I was eating and it goes very well with food and also stands alone.
