2005 Clos Lachance Ruby Throated Cabernet
For $15 this was a nice Cabernet. Nose of berries and brown sugar. Fairly concentrated with a bit of sweetness to the fruit. Ample tannins 86 pts.

2002 K Vintners Ovide en Cerise
A blend of 80% Cabernet and 20% Syrah. On the nose the Syrah component was fairly noticeable. Dark fruit and coffee on the nose. A mixture of dark and red fruits on the palate. A good wine but lacked something to take it to the next level. 88-89 pts.

1999 Silverado Napa Valley Cabernet
Nose of currant and a whisper of toffee. Currant, blackberry and herbs on the palate. This started out with very drying tannins, but with more air they receded some. A respectable QPR and a good example of a Napa Cabernet at the $34 I paid for it upon release. 91 pts

Wines were opened about 2 hours prior to tasting but not decanted. Served alone for initial tastes and then with bacon-wrapped filets, twice baked taters and corn on the cob.

“Appreciating old wine is like making love to a very old lady. It is possible. It can even be enjoyable. But it requires a bit of imagination.”
