Amazing dark red color with almost no bricking, showing an elegant nose of plum, cherries, and rose petals. Powerful, yet displaying grace and elegance and still firm tannins. Still could benefit from some rest. Finish I found to be a tad hard, just on the edge of bitter. 94 points.

Nice notes, many think this is one of the wines of the vintage, especially RP. Others prefer the 1983.

elmo, I should note that I think this wine has serious upside potential with a bit more age - I think those hard tannins at the finish will integrate to round out the package nicely.

Eric,

How do you think the 82 and 90 CB compare. They both sound like they will out live me. I have the 90 still cellared, perhaps it will be a retirement wine Smile

rmkam - I actually preferred the 1990, but both are quite young and the 1990 will require a great deal of patience.

  • 1982 Château Cheval Blanc - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru (6/12/2008)
Paul Drinks a Cheval Blanc (Houstons - Irvine, CA): This wine reeks of class and sophistication. Plush aromas of cigar tobacco, top soil, red clay, and cherries, which evolved as the evening wore on into cedar, pink grapefruit, aged leather and spiced apple. Grandiose and majestic but at the same time graceful and light, this wine performed grand jetés across my palate. An outstanding wine! 94-95 points. (95 pts.)
