Consumed Saturday at dinner. Served with strip steak burger stuffed with seared foie gras. Decanted 1/2 hour prior to serving. Color fairly dark ruby with no hint of brick around the rim. Nose- very tight and not giving up much at first except wet earth and basement. As the wine sat over another 1/2 hour it began to give up aromas of stewed dark fruit. Almost Port like.(Vintage not tawny) Rather thick on the palate. Again initial attack of prune and stewed dark cherry. Full mid palate but with rather consistent flavors. Finishes with fairly well defined tannin. Certainly not flabby. Not as good as tasted 2 years ago. The fruit is not as fresh and the wine was a bit closed and one dimensional. Not sure where this is going.I have a feeling it will not improve. Anyone out there tasted this wine recently?
