2003 Bois de Boursan Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée des Felix - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (8/24/2007)

This was poured at the preCDP dinner in Chicago two weeks ago. A delightful wine and wonderful pairing with many of the tapas dishes. This is the top cuvee from this estate if I recall correctly. It has more Mouvedre than the regular wine and overall the grapes come from lower yielding vines. The estate also uses small barrique instead of foudre for aging. I did not detect any brett in this wine. This wine had a rich texture with ripe fruit. However, this wine was not overtly fruity. The flavors centered on tobacco, tar and herbs. A dry wine with a velvety finish. 92-93 points.

  Wow. Pure clean fruit nose with ripe morello cherries and blackberry notes and a bit of green herbs but with some port like scents on the nose(due to the year). Nice and clean with excellent structure and very elegant. A wine that needs 5- 8 years before it is at its apogee. Gorgeous wine. Lots of tannins hiding behind the fruit but very well integrated. (93 pts.)
