99 Lindemans Shiraz Padthaway Reserve purchased at Beverages & More for $14.99

This wine has been a staple house wine of ours since the 94 vintage. As usual the cork was stained a dark intense purple color, the neck of the bottle was stained and the wine was a deep rich purple. In the glass it showed a nice bouquet of cherry, licorice and spice. Taste was somewhat lighter than the color with medium-body and moderate black cherry and dark plum flavors. Soft tannins with heavy oak predominating on the finish. I would rate it only about 85 points due to the excessive oakiness. For me the current releases of the Paringa and MP Shiraz are much better wines.

Tonester - I had this wine myself a couple weeks ago and completely agree with your notes. I'd rate it a little higher, due to the nice finish. While oaky, it didn't end sour.

This is a great QPR. Very nice Aussie Shiraz and affordable to be an every day wine.
