Bought for $17.99 at LA Wine Co- was a great wine for the $$! Big, full, fruity with some dark cherry, some smoke, toasted oak and lots of vanilla on the finish. I tried a bottle while in LA last week and went back and bought their last 5 bottles to bring back w/ me. Will probably drink another soon then hold the rest for a while to see how they evolve. I did drink this wine right from the bottle- didn't have time to decant- but this wine did develop in the glass and got better with each sip... next bottle I will decant.
Highly reccommended. Jazin rates it 90 points.

jazin;
This is good juice, as evidenced by the thread below. Top quality year-in/year-out.

Is this the same wine that they used to designate as basket pressed? I have some of those 98's left and I think they are great.

Yes- the label says Basket Pressed... and it is a quite impresive looking label- I am glad I grabbed some(5 bottles)... will try get more if it makes its way to NJ or NY area.

Hey folks,

I'm the import agent to Eastern Canada for Reynella and had the folks from Hardys up here last week - including Bill Hardy, who's family have worked on or owned Reynella for a few generations. We tasted about have a dozen vintages including the last two releases. All were in fine shape. We decanted the 99 Shiraz for the Australian "red hot" show last week and were very pleased with how it was showing. The 98's are a very good buy, if you can still find any.

I was fortunate enough to do the BRL Hardy tour to Oz a year and a half ago and visited Reynella. It is a beautiful property! The wine is open fermented in vats and pressed in baskets that were made in the 1900's. Old technology, but it works great. The baskets are surprizingly small, so a lot of effort goes into pressing the Shiraz and the Cab.

A bit more expensive, but worth a search is another wine we poured last week - the Classic Clare Shiraz 98.
