Plum, cherry and spice with a hint of orange at first. After being open a short time leather, earth and a savory quality really fill this wine out. It has that bacon fat that is normally associated with Rhone Syrah. It is a little bit gamy with some iron notes also. It seems tannic on the tongue with some high acidity. Some age would benefit this wine, but I like it now. I think most would prefer this with food. In the glass it looks a youthful purple, but a swirl will reveal a reddish brown color.
90 Points from the critics seems fair. I would like it a little more aged and softer. |
