This was bought in Chicago for $18 and we had it with our traditional Sunday Night home made pizza a few weeks ago. It was not decanted.

-deep, dusty ruby, 4/5 intensity.
-oak, earth, berries, and a faint plastic-y scent early on, then a touch of roasted meat as it matured in the glass
-slightly muted fruit, blackberries, a touch of earth, nothing else that really stood out; quite dry; acids and tannins well balanced and integrated; medium mouthfeel; mildly lingering tannins and cranberry finish.

WS gave this an 86- I might bump it up to an 87 or so as it was comparable to the 99 Hess Select I posted on a few days ago. The basic structure was there, but I felt it lacked complexity and depth of flavor. At $18, I'd probably pick something else- $12-$15 is more like it.

Cheers!

I never drank anything stronger than beer... before I was twelve.- W.C. Fields
