    WIML89,PURPLE88-90,WA90,WS92

Tasted April 10, 2006 at home. Opened and served immediately in a Spiegelau Authentis Magnum glass. Purple to dark purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Early on the nose did not show well on this wine with a distinct nail polish aroma. This later disapated quite a bit but never fully went away before the bottle was finished two hours later. Slowly getting past that the nose revealed some notes of plum, black cherries, cassis, saddle soap and a touch of violets. A racy wine with flavors of cherry sweet tarts, damp earth and a little bitters on the finish. An hour later revealed some flavors of red licorice and a tiny bit of caramel as well. I’d definitely recommend one hour in the decanter if opening now or let it sit another year in bottle before revisiting. Value is acceptable. (89 pts.)

for my palate, thought this was fading, though it could always be the bottle... more notes below.

WIML90

Tasted October 9, 2008.

Opened and glass decanted about 30 minutes before serving. Dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout (got cloudy towards the end of the bottle although no visible sediment). Nose of boysenberry, currant, smoke and violets. Flavors of black berries, black cherries, boysenberry and a slight mineral finish. Medium acidity turning slightly towards the tart side, medium tannins turning a little dry on the medium finish, medium to full body. Drink over the short term, medium term if you'd like to push it a little. (90 pts.)
