2007 Caprili Brunello di Montalcino - Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino (1/22/2013) Popped and poured. Medium-dark ruby/burgundy colour. Aromas of flowers, sage, earth, black cherries. While a little restrained and cool on the nose, the full-bodied palate shows delicious notes of sottobosco, black cherries, black plums, strawberries, licorice, spice, and minerals, with beautifully balanced acidity and fine-grained tannins. Long finish, ~40-45s, with more strawberries, licorice, and black cherries. Clearly young, but it's nice to catch the wine before it likely shuts down. A well-made, traditional Brunello from a very good producer in Montalcino. Will be best from 2017-2027. (93 pts.)
Yes I like the caprilli family. They have a strong passion and commitment to making great brunello. There riservas are well worth a look at particularly 2004 and 2006 if you can get them
