1999 Tardieu-Laurent Côte Rôtie -- after tasting the '98 a few weeks ago, I was curious to try the next vintage. This wine is extremely dark, purple/black, and needs a few hours (I gave it 5, but more doesn't hurt as it turned out) to start releasing aromatics that are mostly spice cake and black licorice, with hints of floral scents after vigorous swirling; still tight, but yields tooth-staining dark fruit flavours, plum, full-bodied, quite velvety in texture; extremely long finish with lots of tannin hanging around for a while, but mainly plum and cedar. Around 95-96 pts. A real powerhouse.
I left about 3-4 ounces in the decanter until this afternoon, more than 24 hours later, and it hasn't changed at all. It will be a few years before I revisit this one.

Nice to hear this is going well SeaQ. I bought a few TL's from '99 - Cote Rotie, Hermitage and CNDP. Haven't touched any yet, and may hold back after your note.
