1988 Les Cailloux (André Brunel) Châteauneuf-du-Pape - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (6/4/2006) Seepage about 2cm Light ruby color with brown reflects with bricking on the edge. Elegant nose of anise, herbs de provence, mushrooms and dark fruits with a touch of sweat. On the palate, black cherries, spices and mushrooms. I wish I knew the exact blend because I feel it's mostly grenache but I could be wrong. Tannins are still present and the finish is medium. I'm surprised of the quality of this bottle because when I first removed the foil I was expecting the wine to be DOA. As a side note, the upper label, which has the vintage, says "Selection Reflets". Is that a special cuvee? Or do they all have that? That was the only Les Cailloux that I own. (91 pts.)
