  • 2006 Kalyra Riesling Vina de Santa Ynez - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Ynez Valley (3/8/2008)
Pale golden color. Non-descript, honeyed nose. On the palate, more one-dimensional honey flavor, with a bite of green citrus tang and bitter finish. Serviceable with food, but nothing to write home about. The score would be even a few points lower, but for the fact that I'm admittedly a sucker for high residual sugar. Kalyra is an incredibly fun winery to visit in Santa Ynez, and I do enjoy their dessert wines ("stickies"Wink. But this Riesling didn't bring its "A" game. (84 pts.)
