    WIML94+,PURPLE94,WA95

Tasted May 14, 2006 at home with Mother’s Day dinner. Opened and served 30 minutes later in a Spiegelau Authentis Rot Wein glass. Light yellow color in the glass, fairly clear hue throughout. Nose of hazlenut, creme, lemon and dutch apple pie. Flavors of vanilla, apricot, cookie dough, apple with quite a bit of underlying minerals. Interesting that when pulling air across the palate it feels almost viscuous and creamy with some toasted almond notes. Good acidity, very nicely balanced. Can be drank now but I'll be waiting a little while longer myself. If opening now don't be afraid to decant for an hour inside the cellar. Should hold if not improve slightly for 5 more years. Based on the $60.00 purchase price I paid direct from the winery I’d say the value here is highly recommended. (94 pts.)

WIML92?

Tasted June 19, 2008 at an offline.

Opened and served immediately. Yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Wonderful nose of toast, vanilla, nutmeg and paraffin. However, the palate was not as good as the nose showing some fairly straightforward notes of of vanilla, creme and spiced pears. Medium acidity, full body. Drink over the shorter term in my humble opinion. Giving it a WIML92 but was tempted to dock it 1 or 2 more just because the palate was uninspiring. (92 pts.)

wiml, I truly hope this was an off bottle.

While the nose was outstanding, the wine itself was very disappointing. What happened to the fruit? Confused
