Per request of GA here are my tasting notes for the '97 Geyserville I drank Sunday in celebration.
Awesome. This is full-bodied, jammy and chewy. It has layers of fruits including plums, blackcherries, mixing nicely with oak and spices that continue on a very good finish. This wine is nicely balanced and is drinking very well now. This is my idea of a great zin. Score 93.
I am now glad that people recommended opening this wine. I only had 2 bottles and was worried about drinking both and not having any for later. However, I now believe that even if I had half a case left they would all be gone within the next few months. I will drink the last one during the Thanksgiving holidays.
As a fellow Ridge fan, I'm glad to hear the '97 Geyserville still had life in it. As an Ohio State fan, I was very happy to see what Boston College did to Notre Dame.
