Bought on futures, and decided to pop one, just for a looksie. Grapey nose, with some plums, currant. In the mouth, on the acidic side, and the tannins are under control and fairly sweet. I've read other notes that suggest vegetal green-ness, but I didn't get much of that. A bit of New World mellowness, and a somewhat short finish. Decent value if you find it for much under $20, which I did. We'll see how it develops in a few years. 84-87pts. Hold

2005 Château Petit Bocq - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe (9/13/2008)
WIML88 Tasted September 13, 2008 at an offline. Opened and decanted 4 hours before double decanting back in the bottle and serving 1 hour later. Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of rose petals, plums and red berries. Flavors of red currants, red cherries and red berries. Medium to bright acidity, medium to firm tannins, medium body. Hold. Will likely be an earlier drinker from this vintage is my best guess. (88 pts.) Joe ----- Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone. |
