I have a local source where I can get half bottles for $65 each. I thought it was a good champagne, toasty for a NV--and it's a nice little trophy for impressing girls.

N.V. Krug Champagne Grande Cuvée - France, Champagne (9/17/2008)
WIML91

Tasted September 17, 2008 at an offline.

Opened and served immediately. Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout with medium and fairly steady beading. Nose has a dash of sherry up front followed by notes of apples and some biscotti. Flavors of crisp apples and a dash of cherry. Medium mousse. Drink over the short to medium term. (91 pts.)

My LWS has this for $50 for a 375ml. Thank you!

Heck of a deal.

What is the longest you have held a NV Krug in your cellar? Most of the notes above say 3-4 years to hold. Does it decline rapidly after this?

I want to say 3-4 for myself. I've never held a NV Krug longer than that to find out myself.

I see where I can get some Krug NV Magnums and I like to store NV Mags for a few years. I was hoping to hear if these can improve and last longer than 3-4 years.

Lakersguy, mags will hold for much longer, and I would not worry about holding for 10 years if you wanted.

I think there's been a mild dip in quality since the label change of a couple of years ago. I still think Krug makes the best NV Champagne that I've had, but it seemed even more outstanding a few years ago. Or maybe it's just that other producers have been closing the gap over the years.

I'm going to revisit this wine again soon.

Ginger, yeast, bread, nutty, very crisp and a maybe a little steely minerality. This struck me as very dry but there was an aftertaste that was creamy and sweet that eventually became apparent.
