2001 Château Rocher Bellevue Figeac - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru (6/20/2008)
This is better than expected. Unmistakably Bordeaux, with much better intensity and finish than I expected for the producer and vintage. Not much on the nose, but on the palate you get a combination of graphite, tangy tannins and nice, lush fruit. Enough acidity for balance, but lower than many Bordeaux's. Medium body with fruit flavors of juicy currants and blackberries and a nice 30 second + finish with a some drying tannins. Probably better over the next couple of years as the tannins could use some softening. I paid $20 and am REAL happy at that price and most others paid less. Great QPR 90-91. (90 pts.)
