Opened a bottle of the 1994 Friday night. Decanted for about 1.5 hours prior to tasting. I completely agree with the notes and rating fromKybo's earlier message which I have repeated here:
"'94 SO: After reading some recent threads on the longevity (or lack thereof) I decided to open one of two I have. Still displaying beautiful coloration and clarity, no sediment. Lots of different aromas working here, currant, chocolate, vanilla, spicy cedar, a touch of mint, most of which carried thru the flavor profile. Tannins have subsided, though not completely, and the acidity is starting to wane. Mid-length finish of spicy black fruit and oak. Still, a nice polished wine w/2yrs. max. left. 89 pts.
I too got a fairly strong cedar/minty nose from this. It was a nice wine but not a great one.
